FLINT, MI – Financial Plus Credit Union will donate $1,000 to McKennassquad Beauty Bar for being the winner of their “Christmas in July” Social Media Contest. The nomination come from Aimee Wallrath, resulting in a $1,000 donation to her favorite charity. The contest ran through the month of July on the Financial Plus Facebook page encouraging followers to nominate their favorite charities. The top 5 nominations were chosen by Financial Plus and voted on by followers.

McKennassquad Beauty Bar was created by 11-year old McKenna, for Children’s Hospital of Michigan patients. During her two year fight against bone cancer, McKenna developed a dream to use makeup as a way to give confidence to children struggling through illness. Her infectious smile and amazing attitude has inspired so many. The first beauty bar opened up at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan on June 22, 2018, with another beauty bar scheduled to be placed in Hurley Medical Center.

“We are proud to award such a deserving charity $1,000 in helping children going through cancer treatment feel beautiful. We had numerous worthy nominations and choosing a top 5 was not an easy task.  We would like to thank everyone who submitted an entry and those who voted and participated” said Olga Long, Senior Vice President.

Financial Plus will host a formal check presentation for McKennassquad on August 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Medical Center.
